What are your favourite Manchester records?
A signed print for the Manc music fanatic that chronologically compiles 72 key records from Buzzcock's iconic 'Spiral Scratch' EP, 1977 (the first independent British punk record) to Oasis' rise of superstardom in the 90s.
The print features records from 1977 to 1997 (including the release date, record label and emulating the artwork colour scheme) by the likes of Buzzcocks, Magazine, Joy Division, The Fall, New Order, 808 State, The Stone Roses, A Certain Ratio, The Durutti Column, The Smiths, The Chameleons, James, Oasis, and much more as well as influential singles like A Guy Called Gerald's 'Voodoo Ray'and New Order's 'Blue Monday' just to mention some. Additionally, the artwork also includes some key compilations and EPs.
The print easily allows the viewer to identify the records produced by Martin Hannett, the artworks created by Peter Saville and the connections with Factory Records. Additionally, the colour of the circles represents the original artwork colour scheme per record.
The records have been chosen by myself and while it's impossible to summarise the colossal legacy of Manchester music in a list, this print gives you a comprehensive overview of the greatness of Greater Manchester music.
