★★★★★ "An in-depth well-researched insight into every track Joy Division recorded. A must for fans of their music."
The Joy Division print chronologically compiles the complete songwriting history of the legendary Manchester post-punk band. The artwork features Warsaw's first recordings in 1977, the An Ideal For Living EP, Unknown Pleasures, Closer, other EPs, singles, B-sides, and up to the 'Ceremony' demo in 1980, later recorded by New Order.
The artwork also includes key information about recording and release dates, catalogue numbers of Factory Records, recording locations, artwork/production credits, and more.
Additionally, it also includes Ian Curtis' literary influences and favourite books, a key part of understanding Ian's lyrical approach and a fascinating reading list. Some of the books included are Nikolai Gogol's Dead Souls, William Burroughs' Naked Lunch, Jean-Paul Sartre's Nausea, Hermann Hesse's Steppenwolf and much more.
I'm obsessed with Joy Division, probably just like you, this is my tribute to the legendary Manchester group.
Hang it on your wall with pride.
Print featured on Peter Hook's Omega Signature Collection Auction Back in 2019, I gave a print sample of this artwork to Peter Hook and he was very pleased with the "attention to detail". In October 2021 Peter Hook exhibited and auctioned hundreds of Joy Division and New Order artefacts and exclusive memorabilia that belonged to his private collection, including this Joy Division print. The print sold for £320, money raised for UK charities. Alejandro De Luna, The Sense of Doubt |
