Like many of you, beyond Morrissey's music that changed my life, I discovered incredible songs, bands, and artists through Moz's extensive knowledge of music and pop culture, along with incredible literature and classic films that had a significant impact and shaped my tastes and views in so many ways—something for which I am forever grateful.
In 2017, I compiled a list of Morrissey’s musical influences and favourite music for a print I designed, focusing on Moz’s eclectic soundtrack of his life and capturing a snapshot of the artists and songs that played a role in shaping his sound.
This list took me a while to compile and fact-check. It’s very comprehensive, but there’s still room for expansion. It would be great to continue adding new mentions of songs and albums that Morrissey has referenced.

Few artists wear their influences as openly as Morrissey. From the literary inspirations that permeate his lyrics to the carefully curated soundtrack of his life, the former Smiths frontman has always been an unabashed music devotee.
