What are your favourite Manchester records?

A unique print for the Manc music fanatic that chronologically compiles 72 essential Mancunian records from Buzzcocks' legendary 'Spiral Scratch' EP, 1977 (the first independent British punk record) to Oasis' rise of superstardom in the 90s.

My print features records from 1977 to 1997 and it includes the release date and record label per record. The colour of the rings represents the original artwork colour scheme per record.

The print includes records by groups and artists such as Buzzcocks, Magazine, Joy Division, The Fall, New Order, 808 State, The Stone Roses, A Certain Ratio, A Guy Called Gerald, The Durutti Column, The Smiths, The Chameleons, James, Oasis and much more. Additionally, the artwork also includes key compilations and EPs.

Some of the records included in the print are:

  • Buzzcocks, Spiral Scratch
  • Joy Division, An Ideal For Living
  • Magazine, Real Life
  • A Certain Ratio, All Night Party
  • The Durutti Column, The Return Of The Durutti Column
  • The Fall, Grotesque (After The Gramme)
  • The Chameleons, Script Of The Bridge
  • The Smiths, The Queen Is Dead
  • A Guy Called Gerald Voodoo Ray
  • Oasis, Definitely Maybe

This print also offers a tribute to Factory Records, Martin Hannett and Peter Saville as it connects the production and artwork credits per record respectively.

The records have been chosen by myself and the artwork will give you a comprehensive overview of the legacy of Manchester music history.

Hang it on your wall with pride.
